Windows 7: remote shut down won't work please help!

remote shut down won't work please help!

I am trying to remote shut down a nother computer (adn this one at the same time) I open the cmd and type shutdown -i. then i click ADD and type in the external ip then i select planned and type in a reason. when i click ok the white window closes and it says in the cmd, The enterd computer name is not valid, or remote shut down is not supported on the target computer. PLEASE HELP!

Of course you have used the correct computer name?

like /m \\computer2

What was your command line exactly that you were using.


shutdown /s and what else?
