How can I access XP programs on Windows 7 Ultimate

Somewhere I read that Windows 7 Ultimate has a place where you can run XP items. I've had XP Pro for years and have a lot of programs that I can't use on 7. Is there a way. I'm new to 7 and all my other computers are XP.
Is there a way to remote in from my XP work computer to help my wife on her home Ultimate 7 computer?
