Please help!
I have an HP dv4 entertainment notebook. My wireless lan is disabled and I don't know why or how to fix it. When I open the wireless troubleshoot box it says the device has been disabled by the windows device manage. How can I get my wireless back up and running??

Have you tried checking the status of your Wireless LAN in the Device Manager (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\System, Device Manager located on the left panel)? Could you please post a screen-shot of your Device Manager.
I've tried everything I could find online, none of it has worked. Here's a shot of my device manager page.
Could you please expand the Network Adapter part in the Device Manager and resend. From the screenshot that you have sent everything seems to be fine.
Please run "Services.msc" and check the state of network services. A screenshot from my Desktop is below.
If any of the services are not running you should restart them.
In case the Services are in order and if you have the concerned Drivers handy, you may try and uninstall the current drivers and then reinstall them.

Also make sure that your wireless card is powered on. Most laptops have a wireless switch. In some cases, it is a separate button that can be found on any side of the laptop. Sometimes, it is an Fn+F1-F12 combination key. Refer to your user manual if you're in doubt. Let us know how it goes.
Might also try going here: Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections, right click the wireless adapter and select enable.
If it happened not long ago, you can try going back to the latest restore point to the state your WLAN worked.
But try looking for a specific button on the case or for Fn+some key for turning on Wi-Fi (usually somewhere around F1-F12)

First if unable to detect wireless network, check for wireless radio - WIFI Catcher & FN + F2.1. Check physical connections between modem and router.
Otherwise please follow following steps:-
1. Check the physical connections between modem and router.
2. Check for wireless network and try to connect them.
3. Check if you get an IP addresses and Default gateway. If yes, try to ping the Default gateway and the web sites.
4. If Ping is successful for both, the Internet is ready - try Internet explorer and it should work fine.
5. Ping is successful for both, but unable to open web sites in the browser.
6. If ping is successful for default gateway but not for web sites - Check in Safe Mode with Networking (SMWN).
7. If able to go online in SMWN, then it’s an issue with either firewall or some application.
8. If unable to go online in SMWN, Check for Status lights on the router and modem.
9. Power Cycle for 3-4 Mins and turn on, modem - router & computer(s) in sequence.
10. Check if any other computers are working wireless - YES - Issue with this computer and position for OSRI or PC RESTORE.
11. No other computers to test with checked direct connection from modem
12. Unable to go online from the modem then refer to ISP.
