Windows 7: Wireless Connectivity Will NOT Turn on

Hello. I just recently ran in to an extremely frustrating problem with my laptop. I have an asus laptop, it's one of the gaming models. Just recently, it has shown that wireless connectivity is turned off whenever i boot up my computer. The thing is, though, that the manual switch to enable wireless connectivity is switched on. Whenever i attempt to switch it off, then back on, the graphic that pops up on your screen showing that wireless connectivity is disabled pops up even when i switch it on. It does the same exact thing when i use fn + f2, only the graphic saying that it's disabled pops up every time i press it, and wireless connectivity stays disabled no matter what. I have absolutely no idea what to do, this literally just happened out of no where when i booted up my computer yesterday.

You could try updating drivers for the adapter and for Hotkey/manual switch?

Also couldn't you just do a system restore from the day before or as close to as possible as it only happened yesterday?

I think that both of those switches turn the radio off or on. The adapter itself can still be disabled.

See if device manager shows a red X for disabled
(right click on it and select "enable")
Or a yellow exclamation point for other issues
(right click on it and select "update driver...")

I would suggest that before you jump to updating your driver, etc, that we check the simple things first. In the Start Search, type "view net connections" and hit enter. Locate your primary wireless adapter or look for anything in there that says "Disabled". If you can find it and it is disabled, click on it and click the Enable button near the top of the window.

As far as I know this is a hardware switch. Try to use it from Windows 7 installation dvd or system repair disk, or any bootable dvd. Do you see the "disabled picture as well"? Or simply boot into recovery environment using F8 and try it

As far as I know, if the adapter shows to be disabled in the network connections screen (via a greyed out icon or switch to the detailed view for more info), it will also show to be disabled in the device manager. But, if there is a yellow exclamation point beside it, it might not show at all in the network connections screen. Please let us know what you find.
