    Sharing a Printer from windows 7 to XP


    Well i used to not have a problem when all the machines were XP but now when i try and add the printer its saying that i dont have the correct driver installed on the main PC when im trying to add the shared printer on my XP machine.

    You will have to install the driver manually first on the XP machine via Control Panel, Printers, File, Server Properties, Drivers and add the driver here. Then when you connect to the Windows 7 PC, you will already have the driver ready.

    i have to download the driver and add it on there. download it from the website and add it there?

    You will definitely need install that driver on the Windows 7 machine as well. It may help to right click the driver and choose to run in compatibility mode for XP.

    Well the printer is connected to the windows 7 machine and i need to get it working on the xp machine.

    Windows 7 found the driver it self.
