Windows 7: Wireless internet icon not displaying signal bars

Just as the topic suggests. I was having problems with my wireless card in my laptop, I finally got it fixed, but now its not displaying the correct amount of signal bars. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks.

Just a thought: Is there a small brass-colored antenna cable that snaps into the connector on the wireless card? If so, Is it making good contact? You might actually be reading low signal strength.

Nope. It is a built in wireless card. I was having problems with it... It might even be possible that I do not even have the correct drivers for the wireless card inside my laptop, but regardless it is working... I just don't really want to screw with it on my own, as I do not want to mess up my laptop again. :P

To check wether or not you have the latest and or the correct driver installed, what is the make and model of your laptop?

I have seen antenna connectors on built-in wifi cards. Those connectors are somewhat delicate, and not always intuitive. Example: I had a friend a while back ask if I could do a "small soldering job" for her. It turned out to be a Micro-Miniature connector (MMCX)and it just snaps on, but one must be careful as it's all to easy to distort either half of the connector.

My wireless card randomly decided to stop working. So I updated all the drivers in my laptop, and eventually got it working again, but now it simply does not display the signal bars.

My laptop is a Gateway NV51B15U.
