Remote Connect? Win7 PC Controlling WinXP Home PC via Internet

My Dad lives 3000 miles away, is not computer savvy at all, and has a Windows XP Home Edition computer I need to control to fix some problems he has. I am on a Win 7 Home Premium computer. Can I connect to my Dad's PC and control it from my computer? I had heard that Win Xp Home does not support this. ??? If Win XP Home can be remotely controlled, I need to know how to set up my end as well as what my Dad needs to do. Hopefully the latter is not too complex as he (Dad) will not be able to do it.
