Honestly, after much scouring over internet and reading.. i haven't found a solution yet... having never encountered this myself..

Another thing you can try.. if you want, is to restart your computer in safe mode with networking by pressing F8 quickly during boot up... and try to join or make an adhoc network...

That way you can completely isolate the problem to just the bare windows components...

Everything seems ok in safe mode .My laptop corresponds right . No problem here. What should be the problem?
NOTE: Recently I installed some stuff from hp like hp support Assistant which seems suspicious as it says that it protects me from network violent accesses and maybe prevent me from connecting to a non protected network like the ad hoc with no password . Could you help me more?

Interesting.. We're finally making some progress.

Try and prevent HP support Assistant, or any other parasite from HP from starting up by starting up the system configuration utility.

1. Press Start --> type in msconfig in the search box and enter

2. In the Startup tab look for the entry titled HP support assistant or something similar, and uncheck the entry(s) to disable it.... hit apply when done

3. Reboot windows normally, and try to make or connect to an adhoc network

If you're feeling more confident with your skills, you can try using Autoruns (software written by Mark Russinovich, a prominent Microsoft scholar) to remove those entries and search for all traces of them on your system..

Hmm thanks for the list... but can you try this method if you have time on your hands?

Try and disable all startup entries in your system configuration, reboot, test it again with a wireless adhoc connection...

If it's all okay, enable one entry, and repeat the step above, and do it again until you find the entry that causes the system to stall while enabling ad hoc connections..

It may take a while, so do it when you have some free time to spare...

I disabled all startup services , reboot my pc but the problem exists . One other thought of mine would be that the wireless adapter Microsoft Virtual WIFI Miniport Adapter for LAN network which says all the time "not conected" is the problem.
What do you think?
