Need help with an odd Wi-Fi issue please.

Hello everyone, I am need of some help with my WI-Fi.

The original connection I used on my laptop was called Wi-Fi. However, recently my system created Wi-Fi 2. I need to delete the Wi-Fi 2 connection because it does not connect to the net. This is not listed as a separate listing under the Network Sharing center nor is it listed under Available Network Connections. What is listed under both areas is the original WI-Fi. When I select the listing "WI-Fi" it connects to "Wi-FI 2". It is almost as if the "2" is a sub connection of the original WI-Fi.

I have searched my registry and remove any reference to WI-Fi 2. Deleted the original WI-Fi connection and neither worked. The sub connection always comes back and is the only one my system will connect to.

I need to stress that none of my equipment or any SSID's have changed. I have checked the connection properties but did not see any thing different.

I hope I explained my issue clearly enough. Any Help would be greatly apperciated.

Thanks for the reply. The is no way to rename the wi-fi2 connection that I know of. The "Manage Wireless Connections" does not even list Wi-Fi2.

The only time I even see the fact that I am on wi-fi2 is when I hover over the connection strength meter and it shows up in the tooltip and under the "Your Active Network" section on the main windows of the "Network and Sharing Center".
