Access Point Error on my Window 7 home premium

    Greetings everyone,

I have a desperate wireless issue that needs to be solved as soon as possible, it never happened before. Recently the wlan at my house suddenly stops working on my Window 7 home premium computer. Surprisingly, when I checked on other devices or types of computer for instance my macbook which I'm using right now works fine with the wlan internet router. I have no idea what's the cause and most importantly the solution to this internet issue. This issue mainly applies just my Window 7 computer. Diagnostics indicates it's an access point error, and I assumes it's correct for now. I tried 3 methods:

    1) To delete the network from the "manage wireless networks" options found in control panel, and tried to reconnect it.
    2) Restarted my computer.
    3) Manually create a profile.

But still no luck at all, as long as I connect to the wlan wireless which I normally use, I can't even make it to the security key screen. It go straights to the dialogue box stating "Unable to connect to wlan-ap".

    Any pointers?

    Thanks
    ~ Nok

Hi Nokino, welcome to Seven Forums.

Does your router have 'Access Control' ?

    Hi there!

Anyone with the security key can easily access that router and go into the internet after that, but what I'm concerned right now is after I deleted the wireless network in the "Manage Wireless Network" option, I'm not able to connect it only with my Window 7 home premium and the error dialogue box pops up immediately without showing a box to enter the security key.

The wlan's encryption type is "WEP" by the way.

I'm not sure whether I answered it correctly, correct me if I'm wrong and rephrase the question please, Thank you.

First of all, sorry for double posting. Problem can moved to solved now. Appreciated Roderunner's reply on making an attempt to solve the issue. I tried changing the encryption key to WPA instead of WEP, and the internet is back on to my Window 7 now.
Not sure why but currently, I got what I wanted.

Most every driver made for Windows 7 will work best using WPA2 security with AES encryption. WEP is an outdated and easily hackable security so isn't used on updated drivers. :)
