Having trouble with my WAN and LAN Port Cables

I have a Netgear router, that I am using for my Toshiba Satellite Laptop, so I can receive wireless internet. I usually use the laptop, and my dad uses the Gateway Desktop. I was using my laptop 2 days ago, and I went and looked at our router, so I could see what kind of router we had. I lifted up the router, and went I placed it back down, I think that some of the cords got unplugged like the WAN and LAN cables. Before the router cords got missed up, I had the following setup: I had one end of the WAN port cable connected to my modem, and the other end was connected in the back of my router. My router has 5 slots, and 1 of the slots is yellow, and the other 4 slots are black. I plugged the WAN port cable in the yellow slot of my router. I had the LAN port cable plugged in 1 of the 4 slots of my router, and I had the other end of the LAN cable plugged in the back of my dad's Gateway desktop. A yellow light flashes when it was plugged, which it meant that the internet was working. When I had that setup, I could grab internet signal for both the desktop and laptop. As I was saying, when I placed my router back down, I think that some of the cords got unplugged, and I checked to see everything, and everything was plugged correctly. When I try to connect to the internet on my laptop, it says I'm connected with full bars, but I cant access the internet, and right below it says No Internet Access, even though it says I'm connected. Now the only way I can use the internet, is through my dad's desktop. The setup I have right now, is that I have the WAN port cable connected to the modem, and connected to the back of my dad's desktop. Its the same thing with my laptop, I can only receive internet when I plug the WAN cable on the modem to my laptop.So what Im trying to say is, can anyone help me fix this solution? I've also tried unplugging the power cord from the modem and router, but it still doesn't make a difference.

Welcome to Seven Forums,

Make sure that a patch network cable is connected between the Modem output port and the Routerís WAN or Internet Port. Connect a patch network cable from one of the routerís LAN (usually 4 Ports) or Ethernet Ports to a computer. Keep an eye on the Modem and Routerís lights until they are stabilized. A Power Cycle might be needed if you still can't wireless connect, please follow this Tutorial.

An update will be appreciated.
