hi all! ive recently got a problem with connecting to my wifi in my room. i can connect to the wifi from other places in the house but when i setup my pc in my room it wont connect, it shows the connection strength is excellent but when i try to connect it says unable to connect any help?

If there is no problem anywhere else in the house except for your room, and numerous tests have shown again and again that this is a persistant problem, we cannot help you. We know only how to fix computer problems, and there is nothing here we can 'fix'. If you want to boost connectivity, get an "N" rated adapter and router.
It may claim to have full connectivity, but reality may give a different answer.sorry my friend

I have an N router and pci card! this is very odd though within 5 metres with no other walls in the way how it could loose all connection!

Hello kitcho, a few things to try... if you have a cordless phone, move the base as far from the computer as you can. Change the channel of your router to 10 or 11, this may help if you have close neighbors with wifi and cordless phones. Keep the computer as far as possible from windows and walls, the metal frames and metal studs in the walls can interfere. Also if the computer is a tower with a card for wifi in it, get it up off the floor as high as you can. You don't say if your router is dual band, but 5Ghz does not work as well as 2.4Ghz when it comes to going through walls and around corners, try the 2.4Ghz if the problem is with 5Ghz band.
Rather than guessing at which channel to change too you can run the Xirrus software which will show you the connections around you and which channel they are using. This will allow you to choose the cleanest channel in your area. If you can post a screen shot of the Xirrus read out it would be most helpful. :)

With full signal strength you should definitely be able to connect. The type of security and encryption being used is also important, Xirrus will tell me which ones are being used.
