Whenever my Sony laptop is turned back on and I choose IE, I am unable to connect. After I choose the diagnose connection problem button, I receive the message wireless capability is turned off and then a button to apply the fix..
When that is chosen, it then turns the wireless on and provides access to the internet. I am using Windows 7 & Norton Internet Security. How can I correct it so that it starts with wireless capability.
Is the adapter set to automatically connect (check in Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections)?
You might also check the power settings for your network card in Device Manager. Set it so that the OS does not manage power to the device. Leave it that way long enough to see if the problem goes away.
Is there any Sony software on there that tries to take over management of your network adapters? I usually turn off all the manufacturer related software that tries to take control of the hardware. Windows 7 handles most hardware quite well, and almost always better.
A quick check would be checking out the icons in the Notification area of the Taskbar at the bottom (by the clock - and check for any hidden ones if you've got a little triangle in there).
Check inside any Sony folders that you find in your Windows Start Menu.
You might also check what Msconfig shows that relates to Sony specific software.
Last month. There were no updates or anything downloaded new that might have caused this to begin happening. I have read on-line that Norton can cause this but I haven't been able to find any options in Norton to disable this from happening.
