homegroup question
Hi, I would like to know why is my homegroup status joined, since I don't have other computers except this one and why is my network named network 2?
Hi, I would like to know why is my homegroup status joined, since I don't have other computers except this one and why is my network named network 2?
Just go into control panel> network and internet>home group and choose leave home group. You can also go into advanced sharing settings and turn off network discovery if it's on.
It probably just got set up this way when you set up your internet connection.
I know these are basic questions but I need to ask:
with these settings(joined homegroup, network discovery on), what does it mean considering my safety, could someone access my computer? What should I do if my computer is all ready compromised?
Usually only the files you have shared can be accessed by other members of your homegroup. If you have sensitive info, check to see if those files have been shared. If so, then you should be worried.
If not, just disconnect your network connections, change your homegroup/sharing settings and run a few good virus and spyware scanners. If you're still worried, reformat your computer.
I don't have anything sensitive... bunch of movies... its just that my computer is quite slow and my daily scans often reveals viruses so... I'll see what happens with my new settings...thanks.
