Windows 7: Windows couldn't remove your computer from the homegroup

I'm clueless on this topic, I reformatted my comptuer about...2 months ago roughly, which i would think would reset the computers setting so i wouldn't be in a home group but reguardless i can't leave the homegroup that i'm in. i can't view homegorup password which makes me belive i'm not actually -IN- a homegroup but my computer THINKS it is. i've tried deleting the idstore.sst file and replaced it with the trouble shoot thingy but that didn't work.. If there is a way to completely reset the HG feature that would be great, or replace a file to kick em out of the home group or something. I need help here.

The only fix I know of is this.

Delete the file idstore.sst under C:\windows\serviceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking

Once everything at peer Networking Grouping is running you may also need to do this...

Start the Task Manager
Click on the service Tab
Find the "HomeGroupProvider"
and then stop the service.

You may need to go back into Windows services and enable Peer networking.

ok, apparently you didn't read the post i already deleted the idstore.sst file and replaced it, i tried shutting the homegrouprovider/viewer off but they were already turned off and i can't start either of them.

Oh I read the post quite completely, you just need to perform the steps differently than you did the first time.

You don't replace the idstore set file with anything you simply delete the entire file> C:\windows\serviceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking

As for the peer network service not starting try this, go back into Services>Peer Name Resolution Protocol and select "Log on" then select "this account" then use Local Service, your computers Administrator account password is the password for Local Service. This should restart the service.

This is the only fix available for this particular problem and this same problem has come up many times in the past.
