I have just installed windows 7 after using ubuntu for a while. I get my internet connection through my mobile phone tethered to the computer. If I get a call on the phone and need to pull out the cable, or if the phone decides to restart unexpectedly, windows seems to not be able to use the tethering properly until I restart. I try to reset the connection by unchecking "tether" on my phone, and then checking it again. When I untether, windows makes a happy sound as though a connection has been formed, even though I've just told the phone to cancel the connection. When I try to establish the tethering connection again, windows makes a sad sound, as though the connection has now been lost. It seems as though windows never realised the phone was pulled out or randomly restarted, so thinks it's still connected. I'm thinking it needs to be told to manually reset itself somehow but I'm not sure how to do that in Windows. Ubuntu never had a problem with it.
Thanks for any help. The phone is a huawei sonic U8650.
