@ F5ing: No I cannot ping the printer, I was comparing my puter with my wife's and on hers under the control panel all programs for HP but when I look under the start and all program and look under the HP file the basic software is not showing but it is showing on my puter.
@Kegobeer: you had mentioned something about creating a network/tcp ip, can you please clarify on how to do so. TKS

The HP should have a network driver installer of some sort. Basically, you tell it you are installing a printer that's on the network and not directly attached to your computer. It then scans your network for the HP printer and installs the necessary software and drivers. Do you have this type of option during the installation process?

Square one. How about posting a screenshot of ipconfig /all from each of the two machines. And let us know the IP address of the printer.

Is everything connected via a common router?

F5ing & Kegobeer sorry have not be replying to your latest suggestions it is safe to say I had been away from my puter for awhile. Anyways today I did a factory reset on my router and then re-install printer. I am still having the same issue except that now I can ping the printer. As for posting screenshot of ipconfig /all of the two machines I would need instructions on how to do that.

Well, forget the ipconfig request for now. I missed that you tried via USB and it still didn't work.

I would: click Windows Start button, type Event Viewer and run it. Search for error/warning events that relate to printing and the printer driver install.

Another thing to try would be: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
