Cannot print with printer on network

I have installed a HP office jet 6700 on my network my laptop Win7 X 32 can see the printer and print. However when I tried to install the printer on my wife's laptop I cannot get it to connect at all. The printer can be seen on the network however why I try to print nothing goes to queue. I have check spooler service and it is on.
We use to have an old HP photosmart but it stopped working. I bought a HP5510 and had the same problem now I have same issue with the HP6700 and off course HP support cannot explain why this is happening.

I need help bad on this one.

Are both computers running Windows 7? Are both computers on the same workgroup? Is this computer actually connected to your switch/router, or is it connected to one computer and then shared?

Does the installer find the printer and allow you to do a test print?

kegobeer, when I use the HP disk it would see the printer but would not connect to network. When I looked at printer and devices the printer was not showing. I then proceed to install printer thru "add a printer" the printer was seen and pop up on the list of printer and devices. However I was never able to print a test page and everytime I tried not only did it not work but it wont even go to queue. Everything I am looking at should allow for the printer to print but it does not. Also when I had the problem with the HP5510 I tried to connect the printer via USB on her laptop again the installation worked however it would not print the test page or anything else for that matter.

Ok, I'm almost positive that installation method is not correct. Usually when you have to manually install a network printer, you have to add a tcp/ip port and point it at the printer's IP address. Adding a local printer won't work, because nothing is actually connected or found. So, you can try adding a printer, but create a network/tcp ip printer and give the printer IP address, then see what happens.

However, it might be something as easy as fixing what appears to be a problem with the firewall. What security software do you have on this computer?

I was actually expecting this question, both laptop are using Trend Micro Titanium. Also I disabled the window firewall as well as Trend Micro on her laptop to see if that was the issue but it did not change anything. I actually spent over 2 hrs with HP tech support and all they finally told me was that I had to reset everything, router included. So I did, I uninstalled all HP software and started all over again but to no avail. Now as for the tcp/ip port I am not too familiar on how to do that . I did read something on some previous thread about it but there was no explanation as to what to do. All I know is that this seems to be a very common problem with Win7. BTW thank you for working with me on this I truly appreciated it. I will have to pick up this conversation tomorrow.

I would completely uninstall Trend (not just disable it), reboot, and try to run the install software again. Quite often you can't just disable it. If things work, great - you know the problem is with the Trend configuration. If not, we try something else.

Personally, I have no use for Trend products. I use Microsoft Security Essentials and am very happy with it.

I think i know, this happened to me before. Head over to your start menu and search Devices and Printers and click Devices and Printers. Locate Printers and Faxes. If it is not there or is not checked or says offline, it may not have installed correctly. (For wireless printers only)
Click Add a device at the top left corner. Windows will look for new devices and display them in the box. When it discovers your printer, click the printer and then click next. It will ask you to set up the printer, entering its name etc,. After you finish it should be working.
    Hope I helped :) - Chris

Kegobeer, I did totally remove trendmicro and remove all the HP software, I then proceed to re-install the software and ended up with the same results printer is showing up with the printer and devices however I cannot print still and still no queue. So in a nutshell nothing changed
