In light of what has been reported here Taking automatic updates just a little too far. about Linksys routers, I would steer clear for a while and wait to see what happens. They might have such a reaction to what they are doing that they might be forced to change their approach on the matter. In the meantime, how about a Netgear router?

I'm using it and so far it's very good. I have it since about 1 year and half and no problems really with it with 2 notebooks and one cellphone over WiFi and another desktop by cable. Also has a good configuration in the web interface. Don't know the exact range, but the farthest I've tried was about 10 meters with some walls in the middle and signal was still good with normal speed. I guess it should support about 50 meters easily. Over all, for a home it's a good option. For an enterprise it falls short and you'll have a lot of problems.
