We have 2 laptops. Both can connect via wireless fine, but only one can connect using the Ethernet cable. When plugged into the laptop which doesn't work I get the computer with a yellow "exclamation mark" triangle, which says no internet access. The working laptop is using Vista and mine, the none working, uses Windows 7.

I'd be happy to use Skype or TV to sort out the problem.

Joe.

Joet, welcome to Sevenforums

This sounds like a driver issue. Can you give me the full name of your laptop so I might direct you where to find the right driver? If you are able to do this on your own, feel free.

It is a LAN driver you would be looking for, and not the wireless LAN.

Hello.

My laptop is a Dell XPS L502X. It is not my driver as other LAN cables with Ethernet. It is just this router/cable that does not work.

It works fine on wifi, and if I plug the Ethernet cable in with wifi enabled it still works, but the second I disable wifi I get the no internet access picture (http://www.iaji.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/howto_set_internet_access_on_windows7.png[img])

Hi Joet,

I don't think I understood what you meant - "Other Lan cables with ethernet"? Do you think the router doesn't work? If it works with one computer, it should work with the other, unless someone changing the router settings. If you suspect the cable, you can try the cable from the other laptop to see if it works in the laptop that appears to be having trouble, and vice versa. That way we can rule out a bad cable.

You will have different drivers for wireless and wired connections. For your wired connection, this should be the right driver for your system: Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]

It won't hurt to reinstall it. If it asks to uninstall the first, you might just do it, then install this one. If it doesn't ask to uninstall, it will install this one over the old one.

For further help, you might consult this tutorial: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/18203-internet-troubleshooting-guide.html

*EDIT: glad you got it working. Your answer would have been within the last tutorial I posted. I see you found it elsewhere also. Take care
