PlayStation 3 as a wireless connection point?

I always though this was impossible? When i try connecting it asks for the password which is the same password as my home network. Then it won't connect to my PS3 as a wireless connection. Anyone know why? I am sure this is not possible, but why is it appearing as an access point? The part that troubles me most is, i completely unplugged my play station 3, it has no electricity at all, yet still appears even after being refreshed.
