Cant edit files in shared drive

Hi!

Trying to share two external drives through my laptop with Win 7 to my wireless network at home. I'm pretty new at this and dont really fully grasp what I am doing but still managed to share two internal drives and one external without any big issues.

But I am having trouble with one drive. I can share it and I can see it and I can play the movies in the folders BUT from another computer I cannot delete, add or edit files, only view and play. I stayed up all night but still couldnt fix it. I tried to compare settings, checked the security tab for differences and permissions but it seems to be more or less the same settings, I say more or less because the settings have been acting weird.

I know I lack the knowledge and thats why I fail so I hope someone can push me in the right direction :)

Im not really sure what exact information you need. Sorry for my ignorance.

For the drive I have 3 group/usernames it seems: Everyone, Creator Owner and System. They all have full rights to the drive.

You should go ahead and specifically add yourself (whatever account you're using), and give yourself full rights. That should clear it up.

No deny access on root folder of share? Everyone=Allow Full Access?

Hm, I really hope not. I thought it was only within my home network since I had to login to my wireless account with password? Now Im a bit worried though.

That is what I think ive bern doing but obviously not. I dont seem to know how to do that. And user where, on my laptop or the other computeron which I cannot edit the files?

I know I come across as very ignorant now, and the fact is that I am since I started working with networks a week ago. But I thought ive been doing exactly what you told me to do, to give usergroup EVERYONE full access and then you asked me about deny access? Sorry for the confusion :/

If you go into the drive properties, hit the sharing tab, and click on "Advanced Sharing...", click the permissions button and what does it say? It might just have "Everyone" as read only. Obviously you should change it and vwala. But if it's all there and fine already, are you in a homegroup between your laptop and desktop? Either way, I'd just go ahead and create your shares from scratch again like this:

1. Go to My Computer and right-click on the drive you want to share.
2. Click Share With>Advanced Sharing
3. Click the Advanced Sharing... button and click the "share this folder" box, then set it up from there and be sure to give the right permissions to the "Everyone" group. That should be it.
