Problems installing Canon MG6220 Wireless Printer in Win 7 x64

Bought this printer yesterday. After setting up the printer and installing the drivers
from Canon I am presented with a message that the printer cannot be found on the network. I set up the wifi connection on printer, it found the access point and stated it was connected. The wifi light was on the printer, indicating it was connected also. After 3-4 attempts to install the software and the same results, I contacted Canon support. They did have me print out the ip address the printer reported and paste it in my web browser. A canon interface came up that showed the printer was connected with 100 percent signal strength and quality. Tech support had me disable start items and disable Bitdefender Internet Security. An hour later, still no resolution, same message-printer cannot be found on the network. Canon support essentially said they have no explanation as to why the printer is not being found. I have a Belkin N600 DB router connected to my ethernet through a motorola surboard cable modem. In a last ditch effort I did a clean install of windows, and same problem. I am able to get online and my other wifi devices work connect fine. Before I return this printer to Amazon any other suggestions?

Have you tried going into the Windows firewall and setting up an exception for the new printer?

Usually you would get a prompt for the new printer to allow it through the Windows firewall but sometimes that doesn't happen.

I'm sure you installed the printer software?

I had windows firewall disabled because I was using Bitdefender Internet
Security. As you stated, I was looking for any potential alerts from windows
firewall anywyay. After disabling bitdefender I went into windows firewall and made sure
it was disabled and verified under services that is was not running. Still same problem
    Thanks!

From what I've read about this printer it should be up and running provided that you installed the correct drivers for the version of Windows 7 that you are running.

You might try using a wired connection to see if the router is somehow blocking the wireless network connection.

Yes, it can be connected via usb cable, which I do not have at this time to try
that. I did try to install the drivers a few times, after which the error pops up
that it cannot find the printer on the network. Amazon has agreed to send me
a replacement, if the problem recurs with the new one I guess I will be stuck with usb connectivity or return it for a refund. Thanks for the input!

So you were never actually able to install the drivers because they could not detect the printer on the network.

I would definitely try using a wired connection and try to install the drivers.

If you are able to install the drivers it will probably work with the wireless connection.

Figured that would work as it was mentioned in the reviews for your printer.

Though I didn't see anyone else helping you here.

Issue is because of an update KB2647753

Microsoft released this patch for printer pool
If this has been applied on you computer then remove it. Once done things work fine

    This is on Windows 7
