    No internet access

    Hi,

I'm having trouble connecting to the net. 2 days ago it was all working fine, then yesterday i turned my laptop on to find that i couldn't connect. There weren't any updates performed that i know of before it stopped working, and the most annoying part is that my flatmates can still connect on their laptops.

I connect wirelessly, but have tried plugging in and still a no go. I've tried resetting the modem (an HG556a), restarting my laptop, removing the connection and creating a new one. My network card is an Intel Centrino Advanced N 6230 (driver version 14.1.2.3, i couldn't figure out if that's up to date or not)

After searching for solutions I've tried disabling my firewall and the ipconfig netsh winsock reset although i don't know if i needed to being windows 7. Now i have no idea what else i can try, so here I am.

    Thanks for any help,
    Nathan

Any indication in Device Manager of a problem (yellow marks)?

Also, from Device Manager, expand Network Adapters then right click on your Wireless and LAN devices and Uninstall them. Reboot and Win 7 will rediscover them and reload the drives. Might help.

Do you have Updates set to download and install automatically? If so you might want to change that to Notify instead. That way you can look at the updates before installing them. May not be any clue there of what caused the problem but worth looking at.

Do you have McAfee installed on this machine?

You have no Internet access and/or see error messages from McAfee on your computer

Yes I'd say McAfee was the problem. I still have internet connection after rebooting. Little bit annoying that being the problem but i guess its all good now.

    Thanks for the help :)
