Win 7 Network Adapter Issue

Hey guys,

soooo...as the title says I'm having issues with my Windows 7; specifically with the network adapter part.

Problem I'm having is this:

My tray icon for the "Network" connectivity has a yellow sign with an exclamation mark on it and says: "No internet access".

I am however connected to the internet and i am able to download, browse and use the internet freely.

I have contacted ASUS (the motherboard manufacturer) and asked the to help me out, they in turn told me to contact Intel (manufacturer of the built in gigabit ethernet adapter). So i did, they also told me that, since the device is working properly (and it is) its a windows 7 issue.

So i made sure my drivers are fully updated and all that jazz. Including the bios and everything else. Truth be told, i keep my rig up to date frequently and as such i only had one thing to update.

Issue is persistent, i have searched other places for help, forums and such, and i tried most people's advice, but nothing helped. Hoping one of you techies can lend a hand.

My setup is as follows:

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 - fully updated
Intel 82567V-2 Gigabit - the adapter i use
- a thing i should mention is that i updated it to Intel PROSet v. 17.2.154.0 (this is indicated when i click on the link speed tab of the properties)
- BUT for some reason when i click on the driver tab it says the driver v. is 10.1.17.0 (the old version from which i updated to 17.2.154.0)

not sure if that is of any help.

I am also currently connected STRAIGHT to the modem (no routers and such).

If anyone can please help me out i would be immensely grateful.
Also if you need me to run any procedures or otherwise require info please ask and i will gladly comply.

Thanks
M.
