Wireless getting limited connectivity

I need serious help. Stuck with this problem since monday.

First off, my wireless adapter is Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230. Prior to me performing a reformat of my laptop, the wireless card is working perfectly with my home wireless network. After reformatting, I can connect to my home network but not to the internet.

The rest of the computers in my home network are able to access the internet.

I have tried the following :

1.) Restarting my wireless adapter
2.) Windows network troubleshooter
2.) Switching off my router and modem for 5 mins and turning them back on
3.) Drivers for the wireless card has been updated to the latest version
4.) Performing dns flushing
5.) Tried static IP

Actually, I do not know if it is limited connectivity or not, if I recalled correctly, if it is limited connectivity, network and sharing center will state the connection as limited, but i am getting the connected. Just that the icon on the taskbar is showing one with yellow triangle exclamation mark on my wireless icon.

I am able to go online wirelessly after I repaired the intel wireless adaptor installation but after restarting my laptop, the same issue arises again.

You should first disable both of the Microsoft Virtual WiFi mini port adaptors, you can find them in Device Manager under Network Adaptors.

Which anti virus software are you running?

I tried disabling the virtual wifi mini port, and it doesn't resolved my problem.

I am currently using eset anti virus.

Is there any possibility of my wireless card failing ? I have no problem going online using a wireless USB adapter to connect to my router.

OK. Here's what worked for me, believe me I tried everything that's been suggested online to date and it turns out the fix is simple. My wireless is working perfectly fine now no more limited access and loss of connection!


1. Set wireless encryption to TKIP. Change it from AES!
i.e.
>> right click network connection
>> wireless network properties
>> security tab >> security type 'WPA2', encryption type 'TKIP'.

2. UNTICK 'Enable Intel connection settings'.
i.e.
>> right click network connection
>> wireless network properties
>> connection tab >> UNTICK above option >> ONLY TICK 'connect automatically when...'

There is absolutely no requirement to disable firewalls, anti-software, hardware (i.e. virtual wi-fi port etc.) or any other complex procedures. The fix is simple as stated above.

After replacing my wireless card, i gotten my connection back as per normal.

Thanks for all who provided help to my problem! You can never understand the irritation of having to use a lan cable and seeing that cable snaking out to the router to get online on a laptop.
