Device or DNS server is not responding error

I'll try to be brief as possible. Have a wireless network I was connecting to just fine over the past 2 days. Today, with no changes to my computer, I suddenly get the yellow exclamation mark over the connection and the error listed above when I try to troubleshoot it. Weird thing is I can connect to other networks just fine and I'm the only one in the seminar I'm attending who is having this problem. Clearly a computer problem. Okay, here's what I've attempted based on advice I've found here and elsewhere:

1. Disabled and enabled wifi adapter
2. Went in to adapter properties and checked to make sure IP 6 and IP 4 were set to "obtain IP and DNS server address" were set to automatic. They were.
3. Went to the command prompt and flushed the DNS
4. Rolled the computer back to a week ago
5. Reset the computer after 2, 3, and 4.

None of the above has helped. Still can't connect to the network. Any other ideas I'm missing?

In the upper left corner of the Network and Sharing Center there should be a link named manage wireless networks.

Remove the one that you are attempting to connect to.

Restart the computer.

Attempt to connect again.

I tried that one three different times but forgot to mention it. No luck. I've thought about trying to delete and then replace the driver (the one I have is the most up-to-date) but that's sort of hard to do without Internet access. I might try a friend's computer later today to download a driver to a thumb drive.

You should first try disabling the Microsoft Virtual WiFi miniport adaptor by going into the Device Manager under Network Adaptors find the adaptor and disable or uninstall it.

This miniport adaptor can cause this DNS problem on some systems. You many need to go to the View tab in Device Manager then select "Show Hidden Devices" in order to see the miniport adaptor. This is the most likely culprit to cause this problem.

If you have any type of VPN connections those should be disabled as well.

Is there a third party antivirus software installed on this system?

If disabling or removing the miniport doesn't work then the next two link may help. :)

I finally got a fix with the help of a tech friend. Since my phone was able to connect to the WiFi network without a problem, he suggested the following:

Use your Iphone to connect and get an IP address, you can look at what it is in the wifi details. Copy the IP, subnet, default gateway and DNS settings and then go back and manually enter those settings into your computers wireless adapter. Turn off the wireless on your phone and you should be good to go.

It worked perfectly.
