    Hello,

We can find out what's going on.
Download, Install and Run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector.
To run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector, double click the Xirrus icon on your Desktop, you may use the Windows 7 snipping tool to crop or Paint by tapping the Print screen key on your keyboard, open up Paint (Click on Start>All Programs>Accessories>Paint) then choose Edit from the Menu and select Paste, then save it and please attach the file on your next post.

How far are your from the Access Points or the router?

You might want to consider getting a wireless extender/repeater or a Wi-Fi adapter with high-gain antenna to get a better signal

im only 3.5 mtrs away in direct line of sight, my phone can pick up the connection on the next floor up at the back of the house so cant see why there is a problem.

You may try changing some setting from your router as a test. Fiddling settings in your router will result to some disconnection, make sure that you inform your family members. If you are on a WPA2 security try lowering it to WPA or WEP not very secured though but this is only a test. If it works on a lower security I would RMA the Wi-Fi Card and get something else. What is the make and model of your router?
