    Linksys WUSB54GSC Problems

    New guy here,

After searching google for the past 6 hours and trying just about every driver that even remotly seems like it would work I decided to make an account here and ask you for your advice.

I am running Windows 7 Pro 64bit and it just doesnt want to connect to my network. Ive tried using linksys drivers, Railink drivers, some other drivers someone said would work as well as many of the preinstalled ones. Most of the time i manually search for the drivers and and pick the linksys ones for the list of drivers i get:

"Windows found driver software for your device but has encountered an error while attempting to install it "

"the device cannot start (code 10)"

I would really appreciate some help on this matter. Im hoping i dont have to buy another adaptor but if i do can you guys suggest som that work with 64bit systems.

by the way: this adapter worked flawlessly with Vista 64x without any drivers at all, i was simply able to use windows network manager to connect to my network

Try using this one in compatibility mode:
Linksys by Cisco - WUSB54GSC Support

    It is rated for Vista

Tried that as well, didnt work.

I ran in every compatibility mode available and as admin.

Should i just get a different wireless adapter?

That is a reasonable action. I would make certain the new one is returnable, just in case their are "new" driver issues.

what you can do is when you uninstall the driver to reinstall do it from device manager. then check the box that says delete driver software for this device,

when you install it again and it gets to the screen where it says plug in the device and press next plug it in and wait for awhile and itll detect it, if you have the notifications turned off then you might not see it but if you press the next button too soon it wont install properly. wait about 2 minutes or so give it 5 if notifications are off. then it should work fine. im running the wusb54gsc v1.0 on windows 7 home prem 64 bit and works fine but u gotta do it like that took me days to figure it out. i know this is an old post but maybe it wiull help someone along the way ya know.

Note the date. This issue was resolved in Win7 RTM.
