Realtek Network Controller not found
I am running Windows 7 on a PC with an Asus M4A87TD EVO motherboard. I've had this setup for a little over a year now without too many problems. Internet has worked flawlessly until yesterday.
The day before, internet was fine. Yesterday morning, the internet was fine. I shut down my PC, went to work, and when I came home and booted it up, my desktop cannot connect to the internet.
My desktop is connected via ethernet to a router. The router itself still seems to be working just fine, since the wireless is working fine with my laptop. But my desktop can't seem to connect using the ethernet cable. The port on the back has no green light. It's just showing a solid orange light. I got a new ethernet cable today and tried it out, but I'm having the same problem.
I downloaded the LAN drivers from here: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download M4A87TD EVO
But when I tried to install them, it got through and then gave me this message:
The Realtek Network Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug the Cable.
