Slow wifi if at all but outstanding on Linux

Yeah, so my wifi is far away and with linux I have outstanding connection, can get 600kb/s so fast enough.

But on W7 and 8, the AP hardly shows up anywhere and when I can connect to the network, its like 0,0000001kb/s.

I installed latest MF driver and his software. The windows driver was crap as well.

    Any ideas?

    Welcome to Seven Forums,

You may try experimenting on changing the Wireless Mode from either your Wi-Fi adapter or your router. Make sure to inform your family or folks in your home about the experiment in case it might affect them.

Sorry if I wasn't very clear on the Wireless Mode, by default its should be set to Mixed Mode, try changing it to an N (if your Wi-Fi or wireless device supports N), or G/N, G or B/G. See which mode you can get a better connection. The wireless mode usually can be found in the Wireless or Advanced Tab or Page of your wireless setting. If you can't still locate this please provide the exact make and model of your router.

I cant change anything, only the channel.

My router is a bbox2. it says 802.11g but cannot change it.

My usb wifi is a ralink 3070 2000mW. But it seems the extra power doesn't get activated in windows. Cause with my regular wifi card I cant see the network either in linux or windows.

Don't think there's a problem with the setup at all, cause it works good in linux, but a driver issue of the dongle. Not the same drivers are used on both systems. But I can't find any other then the one of the manufacturer.

If there's a way to change the wireless mode from your router, that's the only thing that I could think of that might help you.

If you can also try connecting to a different wireless networks perhaps Hotspots to test it out, it might help giving you a clue if the issue is with the Wi-Fi device or setting from your router.

No, the router is garbage with not much things u can edit. Most part is vendor locked.

So no, I cannot change anything, only the channel and encryption.

Hotspots is the same, so its not only my network. Forgot to mention this.

Its something with the recieving off the dongle thats not right. It's seems not boosted in windows, where in linux it is.
