Windows 7: Is it the network or the computer?

I've looked thoroughly through router settings and don't see some of the settings you mention.

I did download the latest (same as initially installed) drivers for the wireless card.

The settings are there though they may be labeled or named differently.

Any other problems should be directed to the lap top manufacture.

If it was my Router I would be looking to install DDWRT on it DD-WRT Forum :: View topic - Hardware Request: Netgear WNR2000 v3 this will give you a lot more control over what you can do with the router including boosting the power levels it transmits at
