Windows 7: "Play To" but also Local. Synchronising Musik over LAN

Hi,
me and my flatmate both have quite decent sound systems and to get a good sound background for the next flat party I would love to be able to synchronize the audio over lan. The play to function works in the HomeGroup but it doesnt play synchronously on the own pc.
Any Ideas of how to achieve a synchronous sound background?
I realize that it is possibile if we both stream radio from the internet but I would like to play my own music and not have to rely on the internet in anyway.

You could use various plugins for your music player and stream a "internet" radio station to his computer/sound system. just dont have it on the internet and it will be just over the LAN, and what ever you play in your media player will be streamed to his. I know WMP and winamp can do this and i think foobar also has a plugin for it.

if your media player isnt so plugin friendly you could just standalone versions or just for the party use a different player (jetaudio+jetcast works good

Thanks for the reply. I tried using the shoutcast plugin and the server for winamp. This does work but of course the music is not in sync. as the remote player buffers before playing.
I am starting to think that this is not possible. Would like to hear you thoughts on this. Maybe I will try and write a program myself.
