    Very slow internet

    Hey guys / girls,
I just installed Windows 7 and I think I am in love :)
    However.
My internet is slow; very slow. I average 10kbps (but sometimes as low as 2.6kbps) downloading on Firefox, and webpages take a long time to load - some not even loading at all?

I have tried disabling IvP6 and QOS to no avail.
Also have the latest drivers for my MOBO, except for the sound card driver, because it can never complete due to my internet connection

    All is appreciated.

did you check it with your internet provider?
also, restart in safe mode with n/w and check your internet speed.

One thing to check if you have an older router in your system, (designed in the XP era), is to check if the manufacturer has a firmware update to improve vista compatibility. I have known this to improve connection speeds

Did I not read, in this very forum, that there was a very low level connection between the sound card and the NIC?

If I read, and recall, correctly, then applying the sound card driver might correct the throughput issue.

Hey everyone. Sorry I wasn't on last night after I posted.
I am going to try and download the Realtek HD Audio driver today and see if that will make a difference. It will at least make putting up with slow internet much more bearable with music to keep my mind off it.

restart in safe mode with n/w and check your internet speed
I will try that if the audio driver fails.

check if the manufacturer has a firmware update to improve vista compatibility
Where would I find such an update?

On the website of the manufacturer.

On the website of the manufacturer.
Haha fair enough :P Will find / download one after the Realtek driver (hopefully) completes.

    Hey everyone,
The internet seems to have sped up a tad. It might have been going slowly due to Windows Update alongside my reduced internet speed because of reaching my data limit.
Will post updates if it turns out the problem is infact not rectified.

Assuming that you are using IE8, you could try this:
