Software for realtime synchronization between PC and laptop

Hello,

I'm using a desktop PC (Win7 Ultimate x64) and a laptop (Win7 Home Premium x64). Until recently I used Windows Live Mesh to sync some folders between these two computers and it did exactly what I need. Unfortunately this program is no longer supported by Microsoft, so now I need a new solution.

What I'm looking for is a program which can:
- sync various folders on the two machines. Cloud services like Google Drive and dropbox only allow me to use one specific folder
- run in the background and do a real time sync. All the freeware I tested only works by scheduling a task or setting a timer, but I want a program that starts syncing automatically as soon as it detects a change in any of the folders

Does anyone have a recommendation that suits my needs?

Thanks in advance,
Walter

Actually, SyncToy was one of the first programs I tried, but it won't run in the background permanently. This is the main problem I've had with every program so far.

They all work like that but you can use the Windows Task Scheduler to set up active sync.
