"File and Printer Sharing" keeps turning on automatically

    Hi there,

I am using Windos 7 Ultimate (x64). I am using internet via LAN (DSL connection). I am really very much concerned of the security of my Notebook. I have been experiencing a problem for, approximately, 2 weeks. Now the problem is , that in "Network and Sharing Center > Advanced Sharing settings", "File and Printer sharing" options turns on automatically upon restart ( or i think it turns on also when I disconnect my Internet connection).

Now, I don't want it turned on. I am tired of turning it off again and again. There is this day I turn it off, then the next day, I just verify if it's turn on or not, and what I see is that it is enabled. How? I didn't do that? Nobody uses this Notebook except me.

Can you guys please help me solve this issue. Any replies will mean much to me.
I hope you reply me and help me on your earliest.

    Thanks for your kind time.

No, I don't belong to any homegroup. I really don't need to. It is just that I use Local Area Connection are there are some bunch of guys here who love to look into the network's computers. Therefore, I came here.

But still, I think, that no one is willing to help me. I am very much disappointed.

Ignore this, didn't work. Enabling Windows Firewall (see below) did work.

You need to turn the Windows firewall back on, this will prevent the Network and Printer sharing from turning itself on.

If you are having problems with people trying to look at your files then change the name of the Workgroup on your machine to something else besides Workgroup.
