Windows 7 tablet, wifi internet connectivity issues
I have a Topcon Tesla tablet computer running windows 7, that has wifi and 3G capabilities.
When connected with the 3G sim card, internet works fine after a few seconds of establishing a connection.
If I turn the 3G off, (for a multitude of reasons - severe battery drain for 1, data, and no need for it most of the time), and connect via wifi (Either at Home, or tethered to iphone), it used to work just fine.
Now - in typical windows fashion, for no reason, refuses to use the wifi for a connection. I can turn the wifi on. I can connect to whatever network I want. But when I go to use the internet - says it's not connected. When I try to use whatever built in troubleshooting methods it offers to try and sort out a connection - it keeps telling me theres no connection and it doesn't know what to do about it.
To add to this - One of the built in Apps I use to run the field software, has a built in exchange program that uses the internet connection to send field data - back to the office. And that program seems to use the wifi connection just fine.
What has gone wrong that only Internet Explorer or some windows based idea doesn't recognize the wifi anymore - but built in software does? What has changed?
