How do I share files between 2 computers via wireless

    Hey guys,
I need help with my problem. I have 2 computers at home. One is a laptop and the second one is a normal PC. Both of them are connected ia WI-FI to a router which is connected to another router which is outside and connected to WIFI source a few km away ... Anyway, I have a question. I want to share files bewteen these two computers. Each of them have IP which was added to them by the router. When I try to ping the router I do not a problem but when I try to ping 1 computer 192.168.0.153 from the other computer 192.168.0.154 it says: destination host unreachable. I want to create a homegroup but when I create one the other pc just does not see it. Can you help me to solve this? thanks!

This probably has to do with the network arrangement which sounds rather unusual with the signal being relayed by another router from miles away.

If your wifi router is the second one in this network then you need to disable DHCP and assign an IP in the subnet range of the other router. I don't know anything about the first router so I can't really give exact directions here.

For starters, you need to make sure that both machines are using the same default gateway or you won't be able to network those machines, the default gateway for both machines should be something like 192.168.0.1

Thanks for a fast reply. Lets assume that my 2 computers are connected to a router. How do I set up the homenetwork between these two computers which are connected to the same Internet network? My gateway is the same on the both computers. I am connected with both of the computers to the interet through the router, I can ping the router by both of the computers but I can not ping 1 computer with the second one.

It's important to point out that just about any A/V software is capable of creating the problems you are describing.

I'll post this Homegroup trouble shooter, I would check it over carefully.

I would have to see the ipconfig/all in order to help more. :)

    The ipconfig looks ok.

It's probably a problem with the router since you can't seem to ping past the router to the other machine. The router needs to handle IPv6 or it won't work.

The third link might be helpful for the router settings but I don't see anything else that could be causing this.

Thanks for help. It is possible, that the router is old ( 2005 ) and it does not supprot ipv6.

Yes the first link mentions that you need IPv6 router.
    Router Supports IPv6

This is pretty much not an issue anymore, but just for the sake of covering all bases, you need to make sure that your router can support IPv6 protocol. If not, Windows 7 cannot communicate with the other computers using HomeGroup. Any relatively new router will support it, so unless you have a really old router, you should be ok.

If you read further down the list in the link below it shows other solutions that might help.
    http://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-7/wi...-to-homegroup/

You should be able to set up a standard Workgroup instead. You might check out the Advanced Sharing setting to make sure network discovery and everything else is enabled.
