Oh one more thing to check - right click on the downloaded file and make sure it's not blocked - you never know and it depends on your browser what does and doesn't get tagged

Sorry if I sound daft, but what do you mean by 'blocked'?

Some browsers (notably Firefox) will "block" items downloaded from anywhere without a high security rating, (the Web) These items will have a button on the lower right of the properties dialogue box "unblock".
Directly running the file (e.g. EXE files) will produce a warning prompt but sometimes trying to open a blocked file will fail without any dialogue

If there is no Unblock button on the properties then it's nothing to worry about

Okay, finally got it sorted thanks to the technical support at TP-Link.
I basically downloaded the wrong file.
I got the right router but the wrong version of firmware. As soon as I downloaded the correct one, things went perfect without a hitch. I'm just hoping now that I get my 20mb connection running top speed again now, because since I have started using Windows 7, my Newsleecher is up and down like a yo-yo! Maybe, just maybe, this upgrade on the router may fix this. (from reading other threads)
