Wireless router is connected, no internet access, power surge?

This has probably been asked but I couldn't find anything directly relating to my problem. Last week, I lost my internet, called my ISP, and it was a problem with the modem. They replaced the modem and since then my wireless router has not worked. I assume I had a power surge that blew both the modem and the router. I "borrowed" my mother's router, same brand, but better model, which the laptop has been connected to before. I am still getting connected but it's saying that there is no internet access. The lights on the router are either a solid orange or blinking orange. I have already tried the resets, changed the IPv4, moved the router around, ect. I have full wired internet but I am running into and tripping over the cords running all over the house(running to laptop, PS3, iPhone and iPod). There is no support for the routers(both are Belkin), unless I pay $40 for a 15 min phone call. My aunt does IT and figures it's something in the house stopping the wireless signal from being picked up but she's not 100%. Like I said, both routers have been used for all my devices before. Is there any settings that I could look into? Factory reset did nothing either..
Any help or advice would be great!

Don't expect a useful replly when you so seriously short your help of valuable facts. For example, the router has many lights. Exactly which one is orange. And then quote the router manual where it says what orange for that one router means.

You post is even vague about what connects to what. Does it work wired but not wireless? Do computers talk to each other but not connect to the internet? Do wired computers connect to the internet? You did not even list he model number so that others can discover needed facts that you withheld.

Every light even has a specific name, a specific function, and maybe various colors. Orange means different things for different electronics. What does the manual say a flashing orange light means? And what do the other colors for that light report?
