If you're connected to a hotspot or domain network, contact the network administrator. Otherwise: 1. Unplug or turn off the device. 2. After all the lights on the device are off, wait at least 10 seconds. 3. Turn the device back on or plug it back into the power outlet. To restart a router or access point that has a built-in battery, press and quickly release the Reset button.

Please post an ipconfig /all from a Cmd Prompt.

Could be they have blocked your MAC address from connecting because of some violation?

What is the SSID name of your WiFi router you are trying to connect to.

    Hi, thanks for your reply.

Not a computer expert unfortunately. I opened Cmd Prompt; what do you mean by "Post an ipconfig /all" ?
I also found "ipconfig.exe" in the Run dialog box....?

    Network info:
    Name: home
    Signal: Excellent
    Security: WPA2-PSK
    Radio Type: 802.11n
    SSID: home

I also ran 'event log' and got this:

Open a Command Prompt and type ipconfig /all hit the enter key. Copy and paste it into a post in this thread.

From the other report you posted something is taking the IP address your computer is looking to get.

Do you "YOU" have a broadband connection, DSL or Cable, in "YOUR" home? And do "YOU" have a Wireless Router connected to "YOUR" Broardband connection.
Or are you connecting to a communal WiFi connection? As it looks you are piggy backing on someone elses WiFi signal without permission and they have SHUT YOU OUT.

Thanks, I attached the Command Prompt screenshot. I just found out how to copy the content but am away from where the issue is.

I rent an apartment and was provided with a Network name + password (WiFi connection only, single WiFi router in the hallway). The signal is provided to all residents and all have the same password. There is no reason for being shut out from it, and the landlord can't figure out why I can't connect (he tried bringing his iPad and could connect right away). I am the only one who can't!

Is there a way to change my IP address? I sometimes get messages indicating "someone else has the same IP address". Could this be the source of the problem?

    Thanks!

    Hi again,

I attempted to change my IP address by entering "ipconfig /release" then "ipconfig /renew", and the following appeared (in Command Prompt):

What is the SSID of the routers WiFi Signal? Do you see that SSID in the list of available WiFi connections?

Right you have no connection. That is because you are not connecting to any WiFi signal.
