Access Local USB Device only via RDP

    Hi

We have a scenario where a number of developers residing on a less secure network have access to Windows 7 virtual machines. Access is via the standard RDP protocol. In the domain that these machines reside we would wish to set in group policy access to the local machine USB devices. However, we would also wish to ensure that we block access to the local drives on the client. Looking through group policy are able to block acccess to all local devices channels but cannot configure or find solution where we can just access the USB (removable media devices). Looking through forums it appears that this is only available on Remote Desktop Services for 2008 R2 server.

Is there anyone out there who knows of a way around this?

    Many Thanks

In the Group Policy editor, go into
    Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/System/Removable Storage Access

Enable the policy "All Removable Storage: Allow direct access in remote sessions"
