    Spotty connection with Linksys WMP54G

I just upgraded to Windows 7 a couple days ago, am using the x64 RC 7600 version. Anyhow, My linksys wifi card has been having troubles and I can't seem to find a good driver for it and to be honest I'm not even sure what the issues is. All I know is that my connection will randomly drop every 30 minutes or so. There's no pattern, sometimes it won't lose connection for hours, and sometimes my ping will rocket in a game to over 2k and it will drop connection 2 or 3 times in 10 minutes and then settle down again. Anyone having this problem or know a fix?

Linksys PCI-E Wireless G card WMP54G Ver. 4.1 (brand new basically)

I guess nobody responded because you say you installed Vista.

This is the Windows 7 forum.

I think you mean you installed Win7 right?

You state the card is brand new.
The latest driver is from Feb 2, 2006, so the card must be older than that.

    Not exactly brand new.

I've checked the Linksys website and downloaded that latest driver.
Sadly not on the website, nor anywhere in the downloaded files I can find any reference to what OS the drivers belong to.

The best advice I can give you is to go to the website and email the support team.

    Good luck

Lol woops, Yeah I meant I upgraded FROM vista to Windows 7. I'm running the RC 7600 build. I know that the drivers are old but the card was purchased about 2 weeks ago from Best Buy. Unsure as to why they're not putting out new drivers.

Software and hardware business = sell and abandon business.
When they stop supporting your product, you will have to buy new.
    That's the simple reality.

I hate being in this commercial treadmill, so I put in every effort to keep my stuff running for as long as possible.
I base most of my purchases on how long and how well a manufacturer supports it's product, and of course, the quality.

Linksys sux in the support department.
Your card came out in the middle of 2004.
The latest driver is from february 2006.
This means they abandoned it after less than one and a half year.

I had a linksys router once.
They never produced any new firmware for it, while it was full of bugs.

    Pretty shameful.

I would only buy linux based routers nowadays.
There are some dedicated linux sites producing firmware for 10 yr old products and older.

Lucky for you, wireless cards are very cheap.

If you still have your receipt from Best Buy, see if you can return it and get a card that is supported by Windows 7 or Vista... Good Luck..
