I moved my desktop upstairs. I used to be sitting next to the incoming internet connection and I had it hooked up via Ethernet, but now that's not possible. Anywho, I bought a NetGear N300 USB WiFi card to connect to the internet. I plugged it into the USB port and Windows installed the drivers
with no apparent issue, but the card did not see any networks. I found that in Network and Sharing the card was disbaled when I went to change the card settings.
Thinking something was amiss with the card, I exchanged it for a Linksys AE2500 USB WiFi card, but it offered the same results, being disabled and not seeing any networks. In the meantime, I bought a Rosewill RNWD-11004 via NewEgg. When I plugged that card in it does show up as enabled, but still doesn't see any networks. Both my laptops sitting at my desk work well so I don't think it's a connection issue. I also have two HTPCs running Windows 7 that are hooked up with USB WiFi cards and have no problems.
Since all three cards are doing more or less the same thing, I'm thinking it's got to be some setting in Windows that's causing the issue, but I don't have a clue as to it could be. Can anyone lend a hand on this issue? So far I've confirmed that WLAN AutoConfig starts automatically and is running. Thanks for any help.
