Windows 7: FTP site cannot be viewed in Windows Explorer

FTP site cannot be viewed in Windows Explorer
I recently installed Windows 9 and since that time I can no longer open FTP's, I simply receive "FTP site cannot be viewed in Windows Explorer". I have researched solutions and made the following changes:
  • made sure my settings were correct
  • went into the Advance tab and made sure the FTP folder was checked
  • Reset Windows 9
  • made the site a "trusted" site
  • Temporarily disabled my Firewalls
and yet I still receive this message. Does anyone have another solution? Feeling frustrated. And please do not recommend Filezilla.
