Remote Desktop Connection defaults (Disconnect confirmation)

Windows 7 Professional. All the latest updates, etc. I use Remote desktop Connection(s) to connect to 6 headless 2008 R2 servers. Recently, when I clicked on the "X" to disconnect, I made the mistake of ticking the block that said "Do not ask again" for the disconnect CONFIRMATION. Now when I disconnect I never get asked "are you sure?"......

I want the disconnect confirmation back! For the life of me I cannot figure out how to get it back. I have looked in the local group policy editor, the registry and in the connection manager.

Does anyone know how to get the confirmations back?

Thank you for any and all advice on this.

Charlie

Look at the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Terminal Server Client] and you will find "ShowShutdownDialog"=dword:00000000, change it to dword:00000001

Reg key is good, but now Remote Desktop Client 8.0 (the version that ships with Windows 8 and Server 2012) is available for Windows 7. It's much faster and more agile--and it lets you kill that stupid disconnection warning.

Description of the Remote Desktop Protocol 8.0 update for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

Don't forget to install the DTLS prerequisite first, explained there.

Thanks. Looks good. Unfortunately, either I am doing something wrong or I have misunderstood what the purpose of the RDC 8 for Windows 7 is for.

I installed the hotfix for DTLS, downloaded and installed RDP 8 update for Windows 7.1 SP1 and enabled the policy as outlined in the KB.

When I reboot, I get the same darn Windows 7 remote desktop client connection.....

How do I actually get the Windows 8 Remote Desktop Connection client connector?

Thanks.

On its face, RDC 8 *looks* the same as RDC 7. Click on the icon in its top-left corner, click "About," and if the versions are "6.2.9200," that *is* RDC 8.

BTW, I didn't do any of the enablement stuff on my Windows 7 machine; just installed the DTLS hotfix, restarted, installed RDC8, restarted, and it was working.

Thank you! I am an idiot! I do have RDC8 .... I just assumed it would look like 8 (from the KB articles). I guess they were using it from within 8.
