Windows 7: not getting my dl speed any help

ok everything worked fine in till i upgraded my net speed to 30.mb dl 4.mb up
the only way i get that is a straight connection modem to my 1 desktop
1 of my desktops will give me 6mb down & 4 up with that same connection
now when i put my router in play it will give me my old speed

Is that router a wireless G? What are you using to find your dl/upl speeds?

Are you saying you are plugging up 2 different desktops with an ethernet cable, and one gives you 30MB/s down and the other gives you 6MB/s down?

I think it might have to do with the LAN ports on each PC...sounds like one is a 10/100 and the other is 10/100/1000 (gig port). Depending on the time of day your checking your speeds, how much traffic is on the net when your checking...can affect your speeds.

Looking at our mobo specs, I see it has a 10/100 LAN port....you could replace that with 10/100/1000 PCI card. That will definitely help out with your data speeds.

its not my mobo i tested another router and i got 3mb dl im thinking my router mayb cant deal with it but it can transfer 10mb to my soft modded xbox with np

no help ? im almost 100 it isn't my lan ports its a router based issue from goggling the heck out of it
i found only others with similar issues no answers R help
