Skydrive - how to sync folders

I have Skydrive for Windows installed. Copied a folder to the Skydrive location, shows up as a Skydrive sub-folder. All the files in the folder were immediately uploaded to Skydrive, but new files are not being uploaded. Not sure what I'm doing wrong...

I believe you need to use the meshed synced folder to get real time sync like you are wanting.

That's for Live Mesh, which is obsolete.

So do you have anything helpful to add?
I know for a fact the folders don't autosync.

If the folders don't autosync, would need to manually upload each new file? Feels like I must be missing something here.

The MS description of Skydrive is a bit confusing in this respect - "Everything you put in this folder is automatically kept in sync between your computers and SkyDrive. Whenever you add, change, or delete files in one location, all the other locations will be updated."

Okay well I have to confess to using mesh because it never seemed broken.
Seems the proper way to do it now is to grab the skydrive app.
    https://apps.live.com/skydrive

It will add a skydrive sync option to your right click context menu.
    Then you just pick folders.

...and now I'm off to change all my stuff around as to not be outdated and shunned by my fellow geeks.

Mesh is fine, just that live Mesh is hard to find now (Microsoft removed the download links, and it was bundled with the older Windows Live Essentials)

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you have the Skydrive application installed? The one with the cloud icon in the system tray? If so, they should be uploaded in near real-time. I can work on a document, for example, and when I hit Save, I can see the green progress lines under the cloud icons in the system tray, meaning it's uploading automatically. If I have two systems on at once, any changes made on one appear almost immediately on the other.

I should note there's two different Skydrive apps: Skydrive Metro and Skydrive desktop. Skydrive metro is preinstalled, but it does not do syncing. It only allows you to access your Skydrive files.

The desktop app (same as in Windows 7) is the one you need for active sync.
