I have an old XP sp3 system that I want to share a folder on to the rest of the family. (Poor man's server).
My own Laptop is an ASUS with Win 7 Home Premium x64 (has gpedit and secpol working) I can see/access the Computer/Drive, Shared Folder and Files OK
My Netbook is running Windows 7 Ultimate x86 and can also see/access the XP computer/drive, shared folder and files fine.
My wife's Laptop, a Samsung, running Windows 7 Home Premium, did not have gpedit or secpol installed.
I was able to copy gpedit and its support files from my ASUS to the Samsung and I can work Group Edit (from Run... Still does not appear in mmc?)
I have been unable to get Secpol working and I suspect that it is the reason I cannot access the WinXP shared folder or files
I can see the Computer/Drive and Shared folder but cannot access it.
Do any of you have any ideas, other than buying a Windows 7 Upgrade or new computer?
I am also having a Problem with my daughters laptop, but it is running VISTA...
But with two versions of Windows 7 accessing without problems I doubt the problem lies in the XP system...
Thanks
