Network Error - you do not have permission to access....

    Hi all,

This is my 2nd day working on this issue. I think I've tried every suggestion found on google but no joy still getting:

'You do not have permission to access \\Computer name. Contact your network administrator to request access."

What really bothers me is that it was working for years now just this one computer has this issue. I can access other computer in the network with no problem even on the computer in question I can access other computers but can't browse any shares on it.

    Please help

    Welcome to Seven Forums,

Instead of using \\ComputerName have you tried \\IPAddress ?

I have tried that and it doesn't work. I'm not at home to see if it displays the same error. Any other suggestions are welcome.

Are they both Windows 7 O/S'es? What type of Security or AV software do you have installed from the computer that you can't access?

Yes, all of them are win 7.
I had Norton 360 installed but uninstalled on all of them.
I've made sure windows firewall is disabled on the computer in question.

You might want to check the time/date settings on that machine to make sure it's in sync with the other machines in the network, check the bios clock also.

Troubleshooting tips from Microsoft did not help here the error for fix it:

Time was 1 hour off. I've adjusted it and verified in BIOS.

    Still no joy.

I just noticed that I see files if I share them thru the homegroup win 7 feature but not thru the network?

Homegroup is what you need to have properly setup in your network since you have Windows 7 computers.
